Breast implant removal is a procedure in which the implants which are previously placed in the breasts are removed. The older versions of breast implants usually had a lifespan of about 10-15 years and will have to be exchanged at some point or another.
The newer implants have a lifetime guarantee and do not need to be exchanged or removed after 10-15 years. However, there might be other reasons some wish to remove their implants such as capsules, weight increase, post-pregnancy, etc.
If you are considering to get a breast implant removal, it is important that you consider and evaluate the results. Typically, after a breast implant removal surgery, the breasts will adopt a deflated appearance. This is why we usually recommend implant exchange or combine procedures such as breast implant removal and fat transplantation.
The surgery itself is performed under general anesthesia and takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour. The incisions will be placed on the same area of your old scars, after removing them.
After the surgery, you will stay in the N1 Plastic Surgery recovery department for three to six hours. Here our team will take care of you, give you some food, and help you get dressed.
After your surgery, you will receive a sports bra fitted specifically for you. The bra is to be worn day and night for about 6 weeks. This is crucial in order to achieve the best result.
The first time after the surgery, you may experience a sensation of swelling, tension, and tenderness.
This is temporary and will reduce gradually over the first few weeks after surgery.
One week after your surgery you will come back for the first post-surgery control. 14 days after your surgery, you will again return to the clinic and we will remove the remaining of stitches.
