Eyes, more than any other district of your face, help to identify you. Looking at you in the eyes you can perceive your mood, your state of mind. Sometimes it happens that over time people close to you, looking at you, can get to comment on your possible state of fatigue or sadness. Even when you’re feeling anything but sad or tired.
Or maybe you could wake up in the morning, look at the mirror and not really believe what you’re looking at.
Hope to be still dreaming (an unpleasant dream, it goes without saying). You would almost want to take a rag to “clean” what you see reflected. Almost to erase the defects and return to that image that you thought (or hoped) to have again.
These are situations that can occur during the progressive aging of the eyelids which occurs with the formation of “bags under the eyes” or with the presence of excess skin that can become evident both in the upper eyelid and in the lower one.
Beginning here to tell you that it is an intervention that must be done following the canons of conservatism, well known to the surgeon who performs this surgery frequently.
In fact, nothing is more unsightly and difficult to correct than a retracted blade or an eye that does not close properly. So it becomes essential to rely on a professional with a large case series, with proven and demonstrable experience.
You have booked the visit. The first step is completed. I would ask you at this stage to try to focus on what you think is pushing you to make this consultation. If both eyelids are a source of dissatisfaction or just one. The superior perhaps. Or the lower one. A good exercise is to look in the mirror in the morning and in the evening to notice the possible differences in the area around the eyes. We would then discuss it in detail during our meeting.
This will be the moment when you can finally understand if what you do not like around your eyes can be correct and to what extent.
In this meeting, after having listened to you, I will examine in detail your eyelids, evaluating the quality of the skin and the extent of its excess. If there are any eyelid bags to be corrected. The position of the eyebrows and any obvious asymmetries.
If you want, I will show you photos of before and after patients already operated by me. I really care about giving you the best possible idea of what I could achieve. The surgery and its possible complications will be explained to you in detail. As well as the post-operative recovery
So … You know where the clinic is, the day and the hour. The required documents have been prepared. Everything seems ready. Something is missing? …
This is the moment to do a quick review of everything we have said. Should other questions arise, I strongly suggest you contact me. Do not stay with any unaswered question, not even the one that seems silly. You’ll have time to do it even on the day of the surgery, between a preoperative photo and a signature of the consent forms.
What will happen in the operating room is exactly what we discussed in detail during the consultations.
So you will know that the duration of the blepharoplasty surgery, which can be performed both under general anesthesia and in local anesthesia (possibly with the addition of a sedation), varies between 45 and 90 minutes. You will remember that for the upper and lower blepharoplasty the excesses of skin to be removed will be marked. If present, the eyelid bags will be reduced. In the case of lower blepharoplasty, additional support points are given to support the eyelid (Cantopexies). It is then possible to lift the eyebrows sideways by a transpalpebral approach. The need or not of this additional maneuver is discussed at the preliminary consultations. After the final sutures, the operation ends by applying special support dressings.
You are almost done, butvyou are not recovered enough to be able to appreciate the final result.
We are at 5-7 days after the intervention. Time to remove the points. You can still see the scars. However, they will be little or not visible in va few months from the intervention.
Recovery is rapid for the upper eyelid (upper blepharoplasty) and a little slower for the lower (lower blepharoplasty). You will remember that on average it will be necessary for you wait 2-4 months before the aesthetic result is optimal, even if after 10-14 days a good part of the swelling is usually gone together to possible bruises. This allows you a quick return to work and social life in general. You will resume sport activities after 3-4 weeks. Your routine post-operative checks will be after 1, 4 weeks 3 and 6-12 months. If necessary, we would add others.
The price varies obviously depending on whether you decide to operate only one or both eyelids. An additional variability is given by whether or not to lift eyebrows.
We can therefore establish a range between 3200 (upper blepharoplasty only) to 5500 euros (upper blepharoplasty, lower and lifting of the eyebrow by transpalpebral way). Funded and spread over 4 years, it would start from € 98.50 and € 148 per month.
The total cost of blepharoplasty will be paid in full by the day of surgery. As already mentioned above, the preliminary visit (or first visit) has a cost of 80 euros.
Only the advance payment of the first visit will allow you to fix the actual appointment with me. Further pre-operative visits (second or third visits) or all post-operative visits are free. We charge a 150 pound fee for our non-obligated consultation. The amount will be deducted from your surgery.
