Rhino Septoplasty

Rhino septoplasty is a combination between Septoplasty and Rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty aims to improve the cosmetic appearance of the patient’s nose.

This procedure can then be done in combination with Septoplasty, which implies that there will also be a focus on functional problems that the patient may have. This can be an obstruction to the airflow and other functional difficulties from birth or as a result of an injury.

How is a Rhino Septoplasty performed?

During a Rhino Septoplasty, the skin on the nose is separated from its framework (cartilage and bone) before it is reattached on the sculptured supporting structure.

The surgery

The surgery itself is usually done under general anesthesia and takes around 2 hours, depending on what is to be done.

After the surgery, the patient has to wear a splint for about a week to support the new nose structure.

The choice of incision depends on what is being done, the patients preferences, and medical possibilities.

Usually, there will either be 4 cuts inside the nostrils (2 on each side) or with a small incision across the columella.
